Coconut chips, not roasted
Everyone knows the coconut, but not everyone knows that this delicious plant is a drupe. The inside of the plant is eaten, which in turn contains coconut water. The brown hard skin closes around the flesh of the coconut. This, too, is packaged, a layer of coconut fibres and, last but not least, a green, leathery outer skin additionally protect the seed core. Coconuts thrive almost everywhere in the tropics. The main areas of cultivation are Indonesia, India and the Philippines. High-quality organic coconuts also come from Vietnam, where special attention is paid to sustainable cultivation. It takes about a year from flowering to ripening. After that, the harvest is due, which is still largely done by hand. In order to be able to enjoy delicious chips later, however, preparatory work is still necessary: the coconuts are peeled, removed from the brown skin and then planed, dried and roasted.
Use
Our organic coconut chips, unroasted, are completely natural. As a pure plant snack, they make an essential contribution to a health-conscious diet. This is why they are often used in vegan and vegetarian cuisine. Organic coconut chips are ideal for the production of fine pastries, where they can be both an ingredient and a decoration. Muesli, fruit blends and nut compositions complement them with their typical aroma. They are tasty with fruit salads and give jams and desserts an excitingly exotic note. The savory part lies with the unroasted organic coconut chips as well. They are a sought-after ingredient for Indian and Indonesian dishes, but also complement Caribbean and African dishes with their bite and coconut aroma.
